Time is a Thief
This last August marked five years since we took a giant leap of faith to move up here. In some ways it feels like yesterday! As I have mentioned before, my husband Lance grew up on the farmstead we are on now. This area being his hometown, one he never dreamed of being back on. It pleases my heart so much to see him in his element, with our cows, on the land he is the 4th generation of and embracing where God has us!
I will tell you God has big plans and his timing is always perfect, even though you may not think so! God works, he works in small ways. Bringing people into your life at the exact right time, as well as bringing people out of your life. He opens doors for both big and small opportunities. Listening and hearing what he has for you is the key.
"For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you." (Matthew 17:20-21).
As I reminisce on our life before, during and after moving here, there has been many challenges but also so much good! We have come so far in building this business, with the goal always in our forefronts on how we can incorporate our own children and their spouses one day!
Having help makes the hard days that much easier! Our oldest son (soon to be 8) is very involved in everything that happens around here. He assists on projects, helps in holding lumber and gates. He is our right hand man. His siblings (a brother and sister) are right there to help as well!. This fits very well with our homeschooling! Chores are also a nightly family event! This has become my favorite time of the day!
Seeing the love my children have for our cattle and sheep is so fun! They are being taught love, respect and self control, just by being around our animals. Bottle lambs make this experience extra special! They are learning safety and respect for the animals and equipment, how to handle and care for our animals and also, building and fixing things around the farm.
While our business continues to grow, we take full advantage of the nice winter days! When the cold days are frigid and many degree below zero, we still plug along. My duties shift to keeping the kids in the house, Lance on the other hand still feeds the animals. We pray for safety and protection over him and all the animals during these times.
On the slow days, I started creating our ranch website. You will find all of my previous articles I have written on my blog. Did you know I used to write for a few local newspapers?! You will also find other family ranchers, daycares and feed/seed stores whose websites I have created.
Whole lamb and retail cuts available late February/early March! If you’re interested please don’t hesitate to reach out!
To find more about our family, our butcher lambs, my small web design business, our ranch and exactly what we do day to day take a look at our website. I pray this new year finds you thriving and leaning on Jesus for your every need.
